Possible Research Area Peer Review

Topic

I am taking up the research area stated by my classmate Albert Choi. He has been studying and working in the biomedical field specifically the bioinformatics. Though I have no prior knowledge in this specific field, I will try to analyze and review objectively in my best possible competency.

Review

The perspective put on this research is interesting as it looks at current situation in which the current bioinformatics data have become overwhelmingly large. Thus an approach to create a system where it analyzes data better with new algorithm would certainly be a critical research. It has also been stated that it was proven to brought a good impact on big data processing of biological data.

I believe it is an intriguing topic and with the rapidly growing number of data, it would be a good take to try an develop a new approach on data processing. In addition to that, the idea of machine learning application on bioinformatics could be explored more to find a specific algorithm to fit the data.

I would say that the topic could be specified more to narrow the scope a little bit with the machine learning approach. Thus, it would create a clearer objective and approach to the NGS data analysis. For example leading the algorith approach to an unsupervised learning to identify new data as well.

More references on machine learning approach in the bioinformatics data could help the research to have more options on the perspective the research is taking. Extracting the idea of future research from published journals on this topic could also be a good start to specify the research question for the proposal.
