Current Situation
Due to the situation hit globally and New Zealand as well, it was obligated that non-essential employee should work at home. My work placement would also stop for the moment until further notice are notified.
Progress
As of last week, I have been assigned the task of creating a documentation for creating a documentation for emergency switch recovery in the case of a downed switch. The documentation is divided into two parts which are recovery through back up server and the other one is through terminal.
Although the first one was the ideal method, it would be postponed as the testing would disrupt NPIL production line. It was still suggested to ask the network engineer of NPIL to start do the testing.
The second method was finished before the work placement stopped. It was a simple task but a lot more time was spent on learning how Juniper switch configuration file works. Therefore, doing some research was the first step of this task. Some other approaches was taken as well before deciding into the terminal method which is the best approach in that case.
Next Step
NMIT had halted its learning facilities due to the situation and started preparing for the recovery plan to continue studies for the students. By this point, I could not continue my work placement and find difficulties on how to consult my project and report as well. Good news is that a supervisor will be assigned to me soon and hopefully more updates on how I should approach the project.
