Add VMKernel Port Group to a Standard Switch
Go to your vSphere web client and Hosts and Clusters. Click on the ESXi host form the navigator pane and then select the Configure tab from the middle pane. Select VMKernel Adapters under Networking.

Click on Add host networking icon. Select VMKernel Network Adapter and click Next.

We will choose an existing switch by pressing Browse and select the switch. Press Next to continue.

Fill in the Network label as preferred and leave everything as default. Click Next to continue.

In the IPv4 settings, we will use static IP address. Fill in the addresses as preferred and verify that the gateway is correct. Click Next to proceed.

Review the settings on the summary. Click Finish to complete the process.

Configure the iSCSI Software Adapter and Connect to the Storage
Still in the Configure tab of the ESXi host, go to Storage adapters under Storage.

Now click the green plus icon to add a new storage adapater and select Software iSCSI adapter. Click OK on the warning that appears. iSCSI adapter is now created. Check under the Storage adapter, the iSCSI software adapter is now available. Click on it and see the Properties undeneath it to verify if the status is enabled.

Click Edit besides General to check the iSCSI name for the ESXi host. Click OK.

Next, under the adapter details, select Network Port Binding. Click the green plus icon. Check the newly created VMKernel adapter and click OK to add.

Now, move to Targets tab and select Dynamic Discovery then click Add. Here add the IP address of the machine which has the iSCSI server set up. In my case, the storage network of the Windows Server machine which is also the location of the iSCSI server. Make sure that you input the network that is served for the iSCSI server, the iSCSI disks will not be available if the set up is not correct. Leave the rest as it is and press OK.

Now after several configuration, we will rescan the storage adapters by clicking the rescan icon under Storage Adapter. Click OK on the Rescan Storage window.

Move to Devices tab under the Adapter details. The information of the attached iSCSI disks are provided here.
